Apple Chicken Skillet is a flavorful and easy-to-make dish that combines tender chicken breasts, sweet apples, and a creamy sauce. It’s a perfect balance of savory and sweet, ideal for a quick weeknight dinner or a special occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 Chicken Breasts – Lean protein
  • 2 Apples (preferably Granny Smith) – Sweetness and crunch
  • 2 tbsp Butter – Adds richness and helps in searing the chicken
  • 2 Garlic Cloves, minced – Flavor base
  • 1 cup Chicken Broth – Adds depth to the sauce
  • 1/2 cup Heavy Cream – Brings a creamy texture
  • 1 tsp Fresh Thyme – Herbaceous flavor
  • Salt – To taste
  • Pepper – To taste

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
  2. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add chicken breasts and cook for 5-7 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove chicken and set aside.
  3. Add minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Slice the apples and add them to the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes, letting them soften slightly.
  5. Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a simmer. Add heavy cream and fresh thyme.
  6. Return the chicken to the skillet, simmering for 10 minutes or until chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  7. Remove chicken and let the sauce simmer for a few more minutes until thickened. Serve the chicken with the apple sauce on top.

Notes

  • For a dairy-free version, use coconut milk or plant-based cream.
  • Chicken thighs can be used as a substitute for chicken breasts for a juicier option.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • For extra flavor, add a splash of white wine or cinnamon in the sauce.
