Deviled Egg Christmas Trees are a festive and creative twist on the classic deviled egg, perfect for holiday gatherings. These tall, overstuffed deviled eggs feature a vibrant green spinach filling, topped with red Fresno chili ornaments and a snow-like parmesan sprinkle to resemble a Christmas tree. They’re not only visually stunning but also packed with delicious flavors that everyone will enjoy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 7 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
  • 5 oz baby spinach
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1/2 lemon (juice)
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 2 tablespoons dehydrated potato flakes
  • 1 red Fresno chili pepper, minced
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, cut into small stars
  • Parmesan cheese, grated

Instructions

  1. Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add eggs and cook for 9-10 minutes. Once done, transfer them to an ice bath to cool.
  2. Peel the eggs and slice them in half the short way (crosswise). Place the yolks in a bowl and set aside.
  3. Trim a small amount off the bottom of each egg white to create a stable base for the tree shape. Set aside.
  4. In a pan, melt butter over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté until fragrant. Add spinach and cook until wilted. Remove from heat and allow to cool.
  5. In a blender, combine the cooked spinach, egg yolks, mayo, mustard, lemon juice, smoked paprika, hot sauce, and potato flakes. Blend until smooth. Chill in the fridge until thickened.
  6. Transfer the chilled filling to a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
  7. Pipe the green filling into the egg whites, creating a tree shape with a slight gradient for texture.
  8. Decorate each egg with diced red Fresno pepper as ornaments and top with a star made from yellow bell pepper.
  9. Grate parmesan cheese over the top to create a snow effect. Use a microplane for a delicate, snow-like texture.
  10. Serve immediately or store in the fridge until ready to serve.

Notes

  • If using frozen spinach, be sure to thoroughly squeeze out the moisture after thawing to maintain the proper filling texture.
  • For a firmer filling, feel free to add more potato flakes if necessary.
  • You can prepare the filling a day in advance and store it in the fridge. Just pipe and decorate right before serving for the best presentation.
  • If you don’t have a star-shaped piping tip, you can still create the tree shape with a round tip or use a different technique to achieve the desired look.
