Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 French baguette, sliced
  • 8 ounces goat cheese, softened
  • 4 fresh figs, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 teaspoons fresh thyme
  • Black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to broil. Arrange the slices of French baguette on a baking sheet.
  2. Place the baking sheet under the broiler for 5 minutes, or until the bread is lightly toasted. Remove from the oven.
  3. Softly spread the goat cheese on each piece of toasted bread. You can soften the goat cheese by microwaving it for about 5 seconds.
  4. Top each slice of bread with a small spoonful of fig jam, followed by slices of fresh figs.
  5. Drizzle honey over the figs and cheese. Sprinkle with fresh cracked black pepper and a pinch of fresh thyme.
  6. Return the crostini to the oven under the broiler for another 2-3 minutes, until the honey begins to bubble and the edges of the bread are slightly browned.
  7. Remove from the oven and serve immediately while hot.

Notes

  • Make sure to monitor the bread while broiling to prevent burning.
  • For a lighter version, use ricotta cheese instead of goat cheese.
  • These crostini are best served immediately to maintain the crispness of the bread.
  • You can swap honey for a balsamic glaze for a more savory flavor.
