Ingredients
Scale
500g / 1 lb chicken breast (boneless and skinless, 2 pieces)
1 1/2 tbsp apple cider vinegar (or white or other clear vinegar)
1 tbsp soy sauce (light or all-purpose)
1/3 cup honey (or maple syrup)
Instructions
Cut the chicken breasts in half horizontally to create 4 steaks. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
Place flour in a shallow dish. Coat each piece of chicken with flour, shaking off any excess.
Heat most of the butter in a large skillet over high heat. Add the chicken and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
Reduce the heat to medium-high and push the chicken to one side of the pan. Add the garlic and remaining butter, stirring for 30 seconds until fragrant.
Pour in the apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, and honey. Stir to combine and bring the sauce to a simmer. Let it cook for 1 minute or until the sauce thickens slightly.
Turn the chicken pieces to coat them in the sauce. If the sauce gets too thick, add a splash of water to loosen it.
Remove the pan from heat. Serve the chicken with a drizzle of the honey garlic sauce over the top.
Notes
For a gluten-free version, substitute flour with cornstarch.
Feel free to swap chicken breasts for thighs for a juicier option.
If you don’t have apple cider vinegar, white vinegar or lemon juice can be used.
If the sauce becomes too thick, add a bit of water to adjust the consistency.
